Discussion Seeds

Scripture: James 4:13 – 5:6

Message: “Business without Boasting”

1. Tell about a time when you made plans which did turn out. What different plan did the Lord have?

2. “That a businessman pays a worker less wages than the worker feels he deserves is not exploitation, as the worker is free to leave his job and look elsewhere for a higher paying one, if he thinks that someone can give him a better job for a better wage.” This is a quote from www.capitalism.org. Comment in light of James 5:4-5.

3. Do you agree with Pastor Dave’s statement that James 4:13-17 and 5:1-6 have different audiences? Why or why not? (Please feel free to disagree!)

4. If you feel comfortable doing so, share a situation in your life in which you are waiting to see the Lord bring good out of evil, beauty out of ashes, good out of evil, etc.
