Scripture: James 5:7-20
Message: “The Prayer of Faith”
1. Are you a “Pooh” or an “Eeyore” when it comes to prayer for healing? Why?
2. Historically, there are several understandings of “anointing with oil.”
a. Medicinal (see Lk 10:34)
b. Pastoral (think of Jesus using mud)
c. Sacramental (vehicle of Divine power)
d. Symbolic (of being set aside for prayer)
Discuss these (or others, or combinations of these). Don’t forget: we all “see through a glass dimly.”
3. What troubles you right now? What causes you to sing for joy? Is there any illness or “dis-ease” for which we as a group can pray (right now)?
4. Scripture frequently exhorts us to sing praise to God. If you are not a musical person, when and how do you do this?

The event is FREE of charge and everyone is invited. So come on out with the whole family for an old-fashioned Christmas hayride.
Please let us know you are coming via the church email address or phone number. Thank you.

Discussion Seeds
Scripture: James 4:13 - 5:6
Message: “Business without Boasting”
1. Tell about a time when you made plans which did turn out. What different plan did the Lord have?
2. “That a businessman pays a worker less wages than the worker feels he deserves is not exploitation, as the worker is free to leave his job and look elsewhere for a higher paying one, if he thinks that someone can give him a better job for a better wage.” This is a quote from www.capitalism.org. Comment in light of James 5:4-5.
3. Do you agree with Pastor Dave’s statement that James 4:13-17 and 5:1-6 have different audiences? Why or why not? (Please feel free to disagree!)
4. If you feel comfortable doing so, share a situation in your life in which you are waiting to see the Lord bring good out of evil, beauty out of ashes, good out of evil, etc.

It’s that time of year. Please set your clocks back one hour on Saturday night. That way you won’t be overly early to church–not that that is a bad thing!

Power in Both Buildings
September 20, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment
Hooray! Both the Worship Center and the Community Ministry Center have electricity!
But…and this is a big item…there is still a branch on the power line that goes over the playground on the east side of PCC. So PARENTS, please be sure and keep your kids far away from the playground!
